Central Heating Leak
We recently had the privilege of carrying out a specialist leak detection survey at the incredible Watton Abbey in East Yorkshire – a Grade I listed building with origins as a 12th-century Gilbertine priory. It’s a site steeped in history, once home to royal scandal, medieval legend, and centuries of architectural evolution.
Our Humberside franchisee, Richard, was called in to investigate a substantial pressure loss in the central heating system. Using a combination of thermal imaging, borescope inspection, and tracer gas testing, he pinpointed the leak beneath the sandstone courtyard – caused by corrosion on a cast iron flow pipe at the transition between old and newer sections of pipework.
With support from on-site contractors, the area was excavated and the damaged pipe is now set for repair – helping preserve the comfort and condition of this remarkable building.
At Leak Detective, we’re proud to support the upkeep of properties both old and new, bringing cutting-edge technology to even the most historic settings.
