Commercial Property Leak Detection

Leak Detection in Commercial Properties

Commercial property leak detection and repair is often accompanied by a different set of priorities than its domestic alternative. Costs associated with metered water loss can be significant but can pale into insignificance when set against costs of business interruption or reputational damage, especially if the water leak is impacting upon 3rd parties within the commercial property.

General plumbers and maintenance teams, despite their efforts, are often not geared up for commercial leak detection work and as a result, can be inefficient with important detection time. In our experience, very few organisations know or fully understand the water supply network within their commercial property. As a result, our first task is often to trace the pipes.

Utility tracking, pipe location and leak detection go hand in hand. The patient application of technology, equipment and skilled operators is essential to ensure accurate analysis of the water-related problem and confirmed leak identification. As a leak detection specialist, the last thing we want to do is start digging holes in the wrong place, efficient detection is key. We have a full civils capability and diggers if required.

Help with Insurance Companies

Much of our work is carried out on behalf of clients who have insurance cover for ‘Trace & Access’.This cover will usually pay for water leak detection companies to locate your water leak.

The Leak Detective is very aware of the limitations and scope of Trace & Access cover and will advise and guide you through the process to try and make sure your claim is covered.

Upon completion we will provide you with a written report including photos and video which can be presented to your insurer to validate your claim.

We have completed thousands of insurance claim leak detection jobs and are happy to offer free telephone advice from the outset to assist with the claim process.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do i find a leak in my Central Heating System ?

This depends upon the nature of the leak, a local plumber should be the first call, unless you can’t locate its precise position. In which case you will need a leak detection company such as The Leak DetectiveTM

Not in all cases, no. If you are constantly having to top up the pressure then there is a chance you have either a leak on your central heating system OR a fault on the boiler. We would always recommend you get your boiler inspected first, in our experience around 40% of our calls to leaks on central heating systems are not in fact water leaks but faults on the boiler.

There is no fixed overall price. The costing of detecting the leak on the central heating system is often easier because of the state-of-the-art equipment we use. There’s little intrusion or requirement to pull up floors etc. Ultimately though we need to come out and see the scenario to quote effectively. The cost of repair is largely dependant on the damage caused by the leak and the access available. Some of the cost can be covered under insurance
