The property owner called us out to install a channel drain at the bottom of the driveway to divert water to a nearby drain, this was because there was water pushing up through the ground.

It was said by two previous engineers that this was natural groundwater, as lab tests suggested it was not from the mains water supply source

Upon arrival we dug a trial hole where the water was pushing through, we quickly felt that this was not natural groundwater and investigated a little further.

Through various sounding and symphonic cup tests, we established that there was in fact a burst water main. We traced the pipework and performed a correlation which gave us a positive leak position under the house.

A hatch was opened up in the main bedroom to gain access to under the house where we found a defective lead adapter on the mains water supply.

There was an evident water trail which was soaking away into the ground at a fast pace and emanating out at the bottom of the property owner’s driveway.
