Leak Detection in Edinburgh
We were called in by Edinburgh University to find an underground water leak along a mains water supply pipe at the Pollock Halls campus. The maintenance team had identified the water meter was turning when there was no demand for water.
Having completed a thorough survey and finding no obvious signs of a leak, we began to trace the layout of the water mains supply pipe after which we were able to begin with our acoustic correlation.
Through correlating from various points along the tracked mains water supply pipe we were able to find the position of the water leak at 13,6 meters from the toby shut off valve. We were able to prove this position through a bell microphone test where we were able to hear the underground leak.
